Villa Francesca
Beaches and mountains, museums and ruins, shops and restaurants and the best ice-cream ever!
Pictures from around the area

Cagliari. Sardinia’s capital city, with museums, restaurants and shopping has plenty to fill a day away from the beaches. Dating back to the Phoenician-Punic period, it still preserves impressive Roman ruins, such as the majestic amphitheatre and the unique Grotta della Vipera. The town’s landscape is dominated by the Pisan towers and the powerful 14th century Spanish Castle.

Villasimius has a variety of cafés and restaurants and the most fantastic fresh ice-cream shop. The flamingo lagoon is located behind one of many really good beaches, which are brilliant for chilldren. Golf and horse-riding available here too.

Beaches. As well as those in Torre delle Stelle and Villasimius, there are numerous beautiful sandy beaches in the area and further afield at the Costa Rei. They're not always easy to find but well worth the effort.

Wild Horses at the Giaradi Gesturi Plateau. This national park is a very good alternative to the towns and beaches. Here you can walk, hire bicycles (with child seats), horse-ride or take a tour in a car.

In and near Torre delle Stelle. Scuba diving, snorkelling, water sports, fishing, tennis courts (bring your own rackets/balls), football and basketball courts.
